A member asked:

If one tests negative for auto immune disease, what does that mean? is this a specific test or does it generally mean negative for any or all auto immune disease?

You get the most from this site when you provide detailed background information about a health issue followed by a clear related question. There are a variety of tests that evaluate the possibility of an autoimmune process. Some are more specific to one process than others, some are more reliable. None are an all in one screening. You are welcome to start over and provide specifics.

An autoimmune disease occurs when the body's immune system mistakes an organ system for an abnormal tissue, and attacks and damages. Many different disorders, such as rheumatoid arthritis, MS, pernicious anemia, Celiac disease, each with its own individual testing. One normal test does not rule out an autoimmune systemic disorder.
