An open wound is prone to infection. The finger may need stitches or a liquid adhesive applied. I would suggest a visit to acute care and an evaluation. The wound should be irrigated and then the physician will decide how to close the wound. A Tetanus vaccination history should be provided and then updated as needed.

Agree with Dr. A D. At a minimum apply triple antibiotic cream to the raw area. It is imperative that you seek medical care to ascertain if wound needs to be stitched.
