It is most likely benign and an area of hyperpigmentation. Watch for signs of swelling, redness and more than one lesion. Please follow up with your Pediatrician. Sun safety includes sunscreen and a hat. Avoid sunburn since this may increase the risk for skin cancer later in life.

In this age group, most likely a small mole or "beauty mark" (think Marilyn Monroe). Skin cancer is not something we see in toddlers.
