A member asked:

I've noticed that my 2 yo has a lumpy back of head. lump seem to be symmetrical/hard.flat spots in certain areas and lumps in others. is this normal?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

I'd have to examine: Kids do have some lumpy areas on the skull. Some are a prominence of the normal occipital ridge, some are lymph glands that are prominent because they are not buried in muscle of other tissue like they are in the rest of the body. I'd have to examine it to be sure but most "lumps" are benign if they are not tender.
