High GGTP implies active, hepatic parenchymal disease, not an indicative of end stage liver cirrhosis. In fact, liver enzymes (AST, ALT and GGTP) are usually normal or even low in severe liver cirrhosis.

GGTP is mostly specific to alcohol induced liver injury, not diagnostic for cirrhosis, nor ruling it out. If cirrhosis is indeed diagnosed, that is a life limiting condition.

All laboratory results need to be interpreted in the clinical context and the doctor who ordered the tests is usually in the best position to do that. Talk to the doctor who ordered the tests. Having said that,GGT is elevated due to liver cell injury from many causes, however, it is not diagnostic of cirrhosis. Wish you good health!
