You are right, the measure of magnesium that you get is that of what is in the blood and cellular function is better when there is adequate minerals. There are fluxes of minerals in and out of cells that is affected by various scenarios in the body and in the blood.

All laboratory results need to be interpreted in the clinical context and the doctor who ordered the tests is usually in the best position to do that. Talk to the doctor who ordered the tests. Having said that, you are not magnesium deficient. If taking it makes you feel better, take it in moderation. Wish you good health!
