A member asked:

I have pain in the above portion of heel bone.i cannot walk.i cannot stand for long time.pain is worse at night.it comes upward.i walk on toes.my toes are always stiffed.in cold weather i feel more pain and stifness?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Pain above the heel is characteristic of achilles tendonitis. Pain at the bottom of the heel is seen in plantar fasciitis. If you have achilles tendonitis, take an anti-inflammatory medication like ibuprofen. Try alternating heat&cold applications. Walk backward up inclines takes strain off the tendon. See your MD,orthopedic or a podiatrist if not improved.
