A member asked:

How long can one live after losing an appendix?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Presumably, your question is based upon post-appendectomy status. In humans, as contrasted to porcupines, the appendix is a vestigial organ and surgical removal does not affect lifespan. Appendicial rupture however could be life threatening if not surgically addressed as an emergency, but success results in normal lifespan.
