Woke up past few night mildly damp in upper body area. i dont soak through clothes or anything. i am 39 years old. i have been congested for about 4 days with over the counter meds helping with that. no fever. room can get hot. what could it be?

Night sweats can happen to certain people when taking medication, e.g. acetaminophen may paradoxically cause sweating. Most cases of nigh sweats are benign.

I think you pretty much answered your question by describing an upper respiratory tract infection and sleeping in a too hot room both of which can contribute to mild night sweats without fever. A mild upper respiratory tract infection or head cold will resolve in several days or so. If not, see your physician.
