It is not uncommon for the heart rate to be elevated during an infection, either at rest, with exertion, or both. Fever makes this especially likely, but it can happen without elevated temperature. Dehydration can also cause this, so it's a reason to drink extra water or tea or other beverage. If the heart rate gets over 100 at rest and/or there is shortness of breath, then see a physician.
