Pain is a complex sensation. While true that treating someone’s depression can ease their perception of chronic pain, it is unlikely they will feel an acute injury or chest pain from a cardiac or pulmonary cause differently while taking antidepressants.

These anti-depressants do change brain chemical levels, and indeed Cymbalta has been approved for "neuropathy pain", but in general, other reasons for pain, such as injury, joint and muscle aching, lacks adequate research to comment on efficacy.
