A middle ear infection or Otitis Media may be observed or treated with antibiotics depending on the degree of pan and severity. The outer ear infect is treated with topical antibiotic drops. Inquire about a hearing test if the infection persists. If there is only fluid in the middle ear, this will often resolve with time. Watch for sudden discharge, fever and an increase in pain.

Infection in Outer Ear and Middle Ear for more than a week will need both topical and oral antibiotics, but you can stop using antibiotics until your upcoming appointment with ENT and then follow his or her recommendations, until then take some NSAIDs if it is hurting a lot.
