Does schizophrenia affect intelligence? i've read some reports, some say yes some say no. does it affect it directly or indirectly? if it does, what's the best to do to minimize the damage? really appreciate?

Schizophrenia affects the mind in different ways in people. So there is no one answer. it may or may not. To minimize damage it is best to stay on treatment. Good luck

At this time, schizophrenia is best considered a thought disorder in the realm of psychiatry, not a dementia or a "neurological disease". However, the emotional symptoms, such as abnormal affect, intense ambiguity, etc., can compromise communication and understanding and create poor cognitive outcomes. So, indirectly can impair intelligence functioning.
