Everyone's reactions in body and mind is different. It also depends on type and stage of cancer and the method/methods to treat it. Since it's a first time experience the processing is different and in most patients the mind adjusts.

I can tell you that being on continual chemotherapy and its regimentation will be a big time change in your life and will restrict many of your activities like prolonged trips, mingling among crowds and often restricts your ability to attend weddings,funerals,etc because of immunosupression. Cancer treatments are a very demanding process over which you have little control.
