A member asked:

Does cancer, not of the brain and without treatment" affect memory?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

"Does" v "Can"...: "Does" it leads to a different answer than "Can" it. Cancer that is localized, not in the brain, and not being treated most commonly won't affect memory. However, "can" it generates a very different answer: yes. The subconscious brain can sense something is wrong and this can generate a stress reaction (affecting memory). Or, paraneoplastic effects (biochemical) can affect memory.
