For someone with a vitamin D level of 20 to 30 ng/mL (or 50 to 75 nmol/L, depending on how your lab reports it), 600 to 800 units of vitamin D2 or D3 a day is the generally recommended dose to maintain someone in the normal range. Once the dose has been chosen by your healthcare provider, your dose may be adjusted based on repeat labs.
