A member asked:

With an advance directive, can one specify dnr after a prescribed amount of time (say, 4 minutes)?

Not useful: Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) has to be started right away if the cardiac arrest was witnessed. You probably mean that you would like to stop CPR if it was not successful after 4 minutes. However, all possible measures (e.g., defibrillator) may not be available in that short time and successful resuscitation could be accomplished after a longer period.
