I have never seen a report of this happening sat this age in 4 decades as a pediatrician. Any kid that might look that way may have absence seizures. Have the kid looked at by a pediatrician. The evaluation process is simple.

It would be a unique situation to ever experience a TIA in any 5 yo, but epilepsy (appropriate duration) or migraine aura (too short a duration) could be a potentially challenging diagnosis. Suggest visit to a pediatric neurologist.

Agree with Drs. F and M. Unless the child has sickle cell disease or congenital heart disease, a TIA would be low on the list as an explanation for the symptoms. Do consult your pediatrician. Wish you and your child good health!

More details would be helpful and the episode should be evaluated. Pediatric urgent care is one option. Consider a toxic accidental ingestion among possible causes. Strokes may occur but usually due congenital vascular malformation. I agree that a seizure would be more likely.
