Right side lower abdomen (hip area) have flare ups of pain that have been more apparent over the last few days. pain is typically not dull but sharp. what could this be? in the past it would happen but would go away. is this something concerning?

Physical exam with some maneuvers and possible X-ray are necessary for the diagnosis. Because this pain is not new to you an acute condition is ruled out.
