9 hours after cleaning my teeth at a dentist ,one of my tonsils is now hurting me and the tip of it is red but only the tip . it hurts when i swallow . could i have contracted any kind of bacterial infection that needs antibiotic or is it normal?

Your dental visit is not related to your tonsil. You may have an upper respiratory infection. If bacterial in nature antibiotics will help speed up recovery.

No, having your teeth cleaned did not cause infected tonsil. Probably coincidental microbial (bacterial/viral/fungal) infection. Seee your GP or an ENT if it worsens.
