A member asked:

How long after being exposed to flashing lights would it cause someone to have a seizure? about 30 minutes after taking indoor pictures, my son woke up from a nap possibly having a seizure or sleep disturbance. his blood work was good at the er?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

You do NOT provide a description of the event, and not clear why he required ER visit. Repetitive flashing lights, (photic stimulation) can certainly trigger actual seizures in true epileptics, but usually not in seizure-free patients. More thorough evaluation and advice can be obtained via virtual consult here at HT. (connect@healthtap.com)
