This is safe to the baby and will not effect lactation, and the best way to protect your baby is for you and anyone else in contact with the baby to be up to date on their vaccinations. There may actually be a direct benefit to the baby since antibodies you make in response to the vaccine can be passed through to the baby in the breast milk.
