Anxiety and stress will cause loss of sleep. Don't get hooked on sleeping pills, have some tea before bed. You must learn to reduce the stress or deal with it as best you can. If need to see a therapist for your problem.

Hypnic jerks are relatively common and physical and mental stress are among others involved. Allowing for relaxing activities before falling asleep may help.
