A member asked:

With a normal liver can you get cirrhosis after a week of binge drinking?

3 doctors weighed in across 3 answers

No, not with just one week of alcohol. Alcohol is a poison that never did anybody any good, ever, so stay away from it. It will destroy your brain cells, facilitate development of cancer in many organs, including breast, cause hepatitis, cirrhosis and pancreatitis etc. There is no safe level of alcohol intake. Quit while you are ahead.

No. Chronic alcohol abuse and hepatitis are leading causes. Curb your binge drinking and daily and weekly alcohol usage to reduce chances of getting cirrhosis.

Cirrhosis is a chronic permanent destructive change in the liver which can not be undone, and one episode of alcoholic gluttony or binging is not likely to precipitate the change. However, here you are at 45 and this is probably not the first time you have given into this temptation, so you need to think about this and adjust your choices accordingly.
