A member asked:

Lab result says specimen integrity compromised: blood recd more than 6 hrs since collection. false elevation of k, phos & ld as well as a false decrease in glucose may occur due to prolonged contact with red cells. does this affect tsh/t4 result?

No, But when you get repeat testing for other items, it would be prudent to repeat thyroid function tests also. Ask you doctor to test for free T4 rather than total T4.

At the very least, delay of specimen testing, has resulted in hemolysis. Would not consider any of results, under circumstances, to be reliable. Would repeat blood draw, on site, at specific lab which plans to do testing. Would discuss with your doctor.
