Dr suspects pmr but all labs came back fine (no inflammation, normal set rate, normal crp). scared to take steroids. will i do any permanent damage by not taking them? any possible differential diagnosis to investigate? thank you?

10mg/day prednisone (for suspected pmr). How long can I take it before the need to taper? I'd like to stop after 3 weeks. I understand it may not be long enough but steroids scare me. Could I maybe take breaks between courses if I need to go back on?
Labs are confusing. + ana, dsdna, and + hlab27. Bursitis in both hips & left shoulder. Chronic back & joint pain & numbness/tingling but sed rate and crp were normal when last checked? Lupus and/or ankylosing spondylitis maybe??
Sle patient. diangosis with pleurisy and pericarditis. Very high CRP and sed rate but is now normal. If inflammation is norm why am i still having symptoms?
Can you still have inflammation with normal CRP and sed rate titers ? And what are the best markers for inflammation ?
