I would try to avoid nsaid meds like advil&Aleve and take acetaminophen (Tylenol). Stomach ulcers are serious disorders. If it's not an injury, apply hot moist pack 20 minutes or alternate hot& cold packs 4 times a day. For a strain muscle relaxant should help. Prescription for lidoderm patches are effective. Have her see an MD if not improving.

Agree with Dr Colantino, the risk of taking an NSAID may overweigh its potential benefit. Getting her physician’s input for the current pain may be best in trying to help her.
