A member asked:

Is it enough to have a palvic exam every 5 years for early detection of vaginal cancer in a woman over 70?

I'm still a believer in an annual physical examination including a rectopelvic examination for preventive medicine purposes. A Pap smear need not be performed in your age bracket if you've had negative ones in the past few years.as cancer of the cervix is not an issue.

Equivocal guidelines, as of late no specific recommendations for asymptomatic adult women as there is insufficient evidence that benefits outweigh possible harm. These recommendations do not apply to surveillance for or after known, diagnosed conditions. Guidelines may vary geographically.
