The antibodies triggered by either a vaccine or natural infection build gradually, often taking 3-4 weeks to be at an adequate defensive level to biosimilar strains. When or if the strain has mutated significantly these antibodies may provide defense against severe disease but may not prevent asymptomatic or mild disease/spread.

It takes at least 2-5 months for immunity to build up. If you had COVID and the vaccinations and booster than immunity is developed faster.
