Voltaren (diclofenac gel) is not an anesthetic and is unrelated to lidocaine. It is a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID), similar to ibuprofen (Advil) and several others. The idea is that it penetrates directly through the skin to the area needing treatment. It helps some patients but not others. Discuss with your doctor.
