During a pregnant woman’s first prenatal visit, we routinely check the thyroid level. If someone with pre-existing hypothyroidism is taking Synthroid, we typically increase the dose in anticipation due to the hormone changes of pregnancy. HCG (the pregnancy hormone) suppresses TSH, not the other way around. Please click the link for more info: https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/3346361/
