If you have had a systemic severe reaction to a contrast dye, it is important to identify the components which may have triggered the reaction. The first step is to find out if PEG was potentially causative. The issue of PEG allergy should be discussed with your physician, but the direct relationship to vaccination reaction requires more information.

Polyethylene glycol is not the usual cause of allergic reactions to IV contrast agents, rarely to vaccines either. Persons potentially at high risk for allergic reactions to vaccines (whether COVID or any other) should get their shots in settings with emergency support , e.g. a hospital based clinic rather than a pharmacy. Please get vaccinated; discuss w/ your doctor if still concerned.

Far more complex than it might seem, but a decision needs to be made about a vaccine. Since there are three to choose, have your doctor get directly involved, and choose the one that seems safest. An allergist may be consulted, and perhaps when you get vaccinated, have an Epipen handy. Tread carefully here, but think this can be accomplished.
