A member asked:

Yesterday whilst walking in cold and very windy weather, the strong cold wind was causing deep stabbing pains in ears worse on left. hours later it changed to ache rather than stabbing. today no pain but pressure feeling. why would wind do this?

Cold weather can cause inflammation in the delicate structures inside the ear. If there was already some pressure within the middle ear due to infection or fluid accumulation, then the cold may have made the eardrum contract slightly, resulting in pain. Try doing a warm saline nasal wash and tap the nostril on the opposite side of the fluid stream to produce positive pressure in your ear.
