The cancer risk of an abdominal or pelvic X-ray is minimal. The much higher radiation dose from CT scans is given, repeatedly, to children with cancer in seeking tumors. The risk of cancer is weighed against the benefit and likelihood of finding a treatable abnormality. It is not unusual to be worried. The risk is very small.
