A member asked:

We have a 4 week old exclusively breastfed son. i have seen that the baby needs to gain 4-7 ounces a week. if the baby is in the low end, like 5 oz per week, does this signal an issue? or can this be normal?

The feeds should provide adequate calories if there is adequate supply. Stay well hydrated, and discuss any feeding issues such as excessive spit ups with your pediatrician. Another wt check in 1 week recommended.
