I guess it could be called an antacid though the word "antacid" usually means a substance that neutralizes acid, not one that prevents it from being made. Things like TUMS neutralize acid. Dexilant does not neutralize acid. Dexilant is a proton pump inhibitor, it stops acid from being made in your stomach.
