It could be mole, like the ones on skin. It would be prudent to watch the spot. If the mole/spot doubles in size, becomes irregular in size, shape or color, bleeds, ulcerates or develops a nodule, see a doctor. Wish you good health!

Pigmented tumors of the eye are almost always harmless, although in very rare cases they could represent a melanoma, which is a type of cancer. If your friend is concerned, tell them to see a dermatologist or ophthalmologist for a proper diagnosis.
