If your anxiety is truly due to an excess of adrenaline, the best method to burn off adrenaline is exercise. The fight or flight response is based on this premise that the excess adrenaline pours out and it is burned off quickly through high-level exercise. Additionally, if medications are used or needed, an alternative to beta blockers is alpha blockers.

Agree that beta blockers may have intolerable side effects, but alternatives are available. Non-medication approaches include cognitive-behavioral therapy, biofeedback, meditation, aerobic exercise, and breathing maneuvers. Discuss next steps with your primary physician.
