How do i know if 2yo tonsils are swollen and irritated?

A doctor who has looked at tonsils of many 2 yo and thus knows the difference will decide if it is. I find it unlikely any untrained person would know what they are looking at or what the norms would be. There are variations of normal and tonsils grow faster than the kids do for several years, tapering over time & then the kids outgrow them.

If your child is experiencing fever, drooling, irritability, pain with swallowing, please follow up with your physician. A throat culture is recommended if Strep infection is suspected. A COVID-19 and influenza test may also be considered. Watch for the signs above.
