Should i seek medical attention if i am experiencing a sharp pain in my left rib that radiates through my left shoulder when taking a deep breathe? it is mainly when lying down. it is not as sharp when standing?

How long has it been going on . it may be pleurodynia a viral infection, that will resolve . If on birth control pills may be concern for a clot especially if family history of clotting or strokes. Usually associated with a high heart rate( more than 90) . May also be a lung infection/issue though usually you would have other symptom like cough. F/u/w/ MD /urgent care

The short answer is yes---how long have you have this? it sounds like the muscle/nerve in between your ribs maybe irritated causing your symptoms. Any cough? it is difficult to know for sure what you have because your description is too limited. consult doc. Good luck
