Pleuritis: Sharp pain in the left shoulder and chest and extending all of the way down the left arm in a 44-year-old should at least be evaluated to rule out cardiac ischemia. If you are not having any problem with your heart then likely you have a pleuritis, a costochondritis, a rotator cuff tear or a cervical radicular pain. You need to have a physician examine you and labs now--emergent call MD.
