A member asked:

I had gallbladder removal in 2019 and still have chronic direahea and abdominal pain. all my gastroenterologist has done is put me on cholestromyne powder and dicocylcline and say take imodium as needed. this is not a long term solution?

This scenario can occur in some people after cholecystectomy and is believed to be caused by too much bile being released directly into the intestinal tract. Your gastroenterologist's advice sounds appropriate. Avoid caffeine, greasy foods, very sweet foods & dairy products which can aggravate the diarrhea. You may wish to seek a second opinion from another gastroenterologist as well.
