My sister has anemia (6 g/dl) and is currently at the hospital getting blood transfusion. she has heavy periods and had a stomach reduction op years ago. can her anemia levels immediately improve after blood transfusion? how to avoid it in future?

Her anemia will improve partially with transfusions, however it is likely that her anemia is multifactorial, involving both iron deficiency ( due to losses through periods) and possibly absorption due to stomach reduction. It will be critical to have it clarified and possible causes addressed.
