MI and CMI are preservatives used in tiny concentrations in most household products. They are not carcinogenic or teratogenic, and are non toxic. That said, in a small number of people, they can cause allergic skin reactions resulting in itching, dryness and irritation/rash. If you have been using it and have not noticed any rash, then you can be pretty sure you and your family are not allergic.
