Germs are present continuously in your digestive tract and feed off digestive debris. Probiotics are simply seed colonies of germs that "play nice" in the gut. Their ingestion can crowd out random germs you ingested from contaminated fingers or food during feeds. I doubt they do anything significant to your energy stores but if you feel better taking them continue.

Controlled trials have not shown a beneficial effect from probiotics. For healthy diet: http://www.choosemyplate.gov/., exercise 30 minutes/day, drink enough water daily so your urine is mostly colorless, have safe sex, no tobacco alcohol weed or street drugs. Get Flu and Covid vaccines. Wish you good health!
