In classic POTS, the association is the tachycardia caused as a response to the low blood pressure that occurs when going from sitting to standing which occurs in some people, usually younger ones who tend to outgrow the syndrome. This doesn't mean that otherwise healthy young people with low BP are prone to POTS.

POTS is the abnormal drop in blood pressure going from sitting to standing, usually associated with lightheadedness and dizziness. Most people will maintain their blood pressure on standing up.
