A member asked:

Why would beta blockers be used for pots if people with pots have low blood pressure when standing?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Beta blockers: Beta blockers such as atenolol, metoprolol and propanolol are often prescribed to treat pots because they slow down the excessive heart rate response (tachycardia) that pots patients experience. They also work by blocking the effects of Epinephrine and norepinephrine released by the autonomic nervous system, they also block or lessen sympathetic nerve impulses.
