A member asked:

I am 40+4 weeks pregnant and have been going in for non stress test every few days - everything looks good and healthy. assuming everything stays well and i continue going in for non stress tests, can i safely wait to induce until 42 weeks?

Your obstetrician should decide when it is the best time for induction of labor.

You are an elderly gravida(over 35) and if this a first pregnancy, I induce my patients at 40 weeks if the periods are regular, dates and usd are the same. If you are a multigravida, I would still do it by 41 weeks at the most. Having said that, If you do not have any complications and it is a completely normal pregnancy, all parameters are excellent twice a week, then the OB may wait a few days.
