It often does. It would depend on the reason for the exam and the time of the last pap smear. Some such exams are focused on ruling out other abdominal/pelvic issues based on the patients history. A pap smear would be done as an add on if none was done in the recent past.

Agree with Dr. Ferguson. A PAP is not part of a pelvic examination. Pelvic examination involved manual examination of the reproductive tract and through it examining the pelvic organs.
