Girlfriend is late and took a hpt on tuesday morning and it was negative, she took another one on wednesday afternoon and it was positive. then took two more test at the local ob/gym clinic on the same day and both were negative. whats causing this?

One doctor answered this question already. False positive test does happen so doctor always orders blood test for confirmation and establish the baseline if the test is truly positive.
